Global crises such as climate change or the loss of biodiversity pose immense challenges to humanity – both on a societal and individual level. It is therefore important to understand under which conditions individuals and groups become motivated to act sustainably. To this end, this presentation will discuss a framework that links planetary to mental health on different levels of society. Such a multi-level perspective allows the modelling of dynamic interactions and can reproduce causal assumptions about catalysts and barriers to sustainable action. The integrative model will be illustrated using various examples (e.g. on the relationship between nature/place – well-being – environmental behaviour – political changes) and hopefully be discussed critically with the symposium participants.
